A Feast at The Old Bakery Restaurant
Set within the charm and warmth of its historic setting, The Old Bakery Restaurant offers guests two distinctly memorable dining experiences that celebrate both rustic Italian comfort and the bold, communal spirit of South African hospitality.
On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday evenings, the restaurant transforms into an inviting Italian-inspired dining room, where a four-course set menu unfolds in generous, comforting waves. The experience begins with a vibrant antipasti and fresh garden salad, followed by handmade pasta that speaks to tradition and simplicity. From there, guests are treated to slice after slice of wood-fired pizza, served straight from the oven and shared in true convivial style. The evening concludes on a sweet note with a classic dolce and coffee. Dinner is served from 18h00, and advance reservations are essential.
Midweek and Sundays bring a completely different energy to The Old Bakery. From 18h30, the space comes alive with the much-loved Carnivore Evenings — a five-course celebration designed unapologetically for meat lovers. Long communal tables set the stage for a lively, social dining experience filled with laughter, live South African folk-style music, fine red wine, and even the occasional dance.
The menu is generous and unapologetic: thick-cut steaks, beef tartare with all the trimmings, and a variety of traditional surprises served in abundance. It is hearty, expressive, and deeply communal — a true celebration of flavour and togetherness.
At the heart of The Old Bakery’s philosophy is a simple, generous approach to food. Meals are served family-style, with guests encouraged to share from wooden boards placed at the table, creating a relaxed and interactive dining experience that feels both abundant and homely.
The Old Bakery Restaurant is open to the public on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evenings, with priority booking given to hotel guests.
