Located in the Eastern Cape, Cape Country Routes’ newest family-owned member Sibuya Game Reserve, an unmatched fusion of luxury and environmental awareness, is home to the Big 5, a bird-lover’s paradise and is the country’s only game reserve accessed solely by boat. Every aspect of a stay at the award-winning Sibuya Game Reserve has been carefully designed to provide a seamless fusion of luxury and sustainability.
The unique ‘Sibuya Experience’ starts with a 45 minute boat transfer up the Kariega Estuary to Sibuya’s three accommodation options – two luxurious tented Camps and an exclusive Lodge:
- River Camp – eco-friendly with solar power. A retreat for families, friends and special parties, set in riverine woodland, offers a close connection to the surrounding landscape. Four spacious tents, created with sustainability in mind, feature a spacious king-sized or two single beds, an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, a fireplace that provides a cozy atmosphere and more than enough space to accommodate two children sharing with parents. Ground-level walkways allow easy access to all areas. Children of all ages welcome. Wi-fi available.
- Forest Camp – eco-friendly with solar power. Eight concealed tents set in an indigenous riverine thicket provide unparalleled solitude and luxury. Each tent features a distinctive design, a private bathroom and king-sized or single beds and sleeper divans make it ideal accommodation for families with teenagers. In keeping with the sustainability ethos of Sibuya, the architecture of the camp demonstrates a dedication to minimizing impact on the environment, using raised wooden walkways which protect the sensitive ecosystem of the forest floor below and allowing passage for the forest dwellers. Glimpses of the varied fauna and flora along the way keep guests in touch with Nature. Available to children over the age of 12. Wi-fi available.
- Bush Lodge – on mains electricity is the pinnacle of luxury, situated in a deep indigenous forested valley. A classic thatched Lodge with four spacious secluded apartments, king or queen-sized beds and all having en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, personal viewing decks and air conditioning. The eco-friendly lodge offers a heated swimming pool that gently blends into the surroundings and vast views of the valley. Children over the age of 12 welcome. Wi-fi available
Besides providing first-rate luxury accommodation, Sibuya has a strong commitment to conservation activities. Initiatives like re-forestation, invasive species eradication, moral conservation methods and support for the re-introduction of native wildlife species demonstrate its commitment to the environment. With its goal to preserve critically endangered species, including the White Rhinoceros and tiny Blue Duiker, Sibuya is committed to safeguarding the beauty and diversity of its priceless environment as it works towards a happy co-existence between visitors and the wild.

“Here you go on a trip that not only connects you to the stunning African landscapes, but also to a deep dedication to preserving its exceptional natural heritage through every moment spent in our thoughtfully created camps.” Nick Fox, owner.
