Newmark Hotels & Reserves proudly announces the reopening of Blaauwklippen Manor, including the historic Manor House and Jonkershuis. After an extensive restoration, the estate returns as a five-star destination on one of South Africa’s most iconic wine estates.
Founded in 1682 as the first registered company in the Cape Winelands, Blaauwklippen has shaped the region’s viticulture, commerce, and hospitality. Its reopening honours more than three centuries of heritage while stepping boldly into a contemporary era of refined luxury.

The 2024 fire that devastated the estate became a catalyst for renewal. Heritage architects and skilled craftsmen restored the buildings with care, preserving original materials, from centuries-old bricks to fragments of Delft porcelain, while introducing modern comforts. Contemporary interiors by Cape Town designer Francois du Plessis bring layered, elegant, and slightly eclectic touches inspired by the Stellenbosch Mountains.
Blaauwklippen Manor now offers 11 luxury accommodation units: eight en-suite rooms in the Manor House, ranging from 26 m² to 42 m² (two with private terraces), and three Jonkershuis suites with bedrooms, lounges, bathrooms, private terraces, and gas fireplaces. Guests also enjoy a shared swimming pool nestled in the estate’s grounds.
A symbol of resilience and innovation, Blaauwklippen pioneered South Africa’s first Zinfandel vineyards and hosts the country’s longest-running consumer wine blending competition. Its tree-lined avenue, courtyard, and gateposts remain timeless markers of its hospitality legacy.
The reopening ushers in a new chapter — one rooted in heritage, shaped by resilience, and defined by thoughtful luxury, inviting guests to experience the sophistication and character of Blaauwklippen Manor once again.
