The Galileo Open Air Cinema returns to the Cape Winelands for its 15th summer season.
Tuck into a delicious picnic on luscious lawns until the movie starts at sunset on the big screen. The Galileo is a unique experience including classic and contemporary films, picnics, a food and drinks market, games, prizes, giveaways, music, and more at award-winning wine, farm and hotel estates. Special Shows this season
This season sees a wide variety of 30+ movies at over 10+ venues across the Cape Winelands. From classic romcoms and family-friendly animations to nostalgic fan-favourites and Oscar-front runners from earlier this year – old or new, each weekend has been carefully curated at The Galileo.
Themed nights and Special Shows are back in the Winelands for the Week of Love, including Galentine’s Day (13 Feb) showing Mean Girls at Meerendal and Valentine’s Day (14 Feb) showing Romeo & Juliet at Allée Bleue. Whether with your BFFs or your loved one, these shows are the quintessential cinemagic experience. Dress-up competitions, freebies, giveaways, live entertainment, quotable moments, famous actors, classic movies and love in the air – what a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Week!
Easter Sunday (28 Mar) is being hosted at Meerendal this season, screening the beloved Peter Rabbit originally authored by Beatrix Potter. Enjoy the mischief, laughs and ruckus as Peter, Bea, Cottontail, Flopsy, Mopsy and more try to outsmart Farmer McGregor.
For the first time at The Galileo, Plaisir hosts a South African made Afrikaans movie; Semi Soet stars Anel Alexander, Nico Panagio and Sandra Vaughn as a workaholic (Alexander) hires a model (Panagio) to pretend to be her fake fiancé for the day and hilarity and romance ensues.

Stars, surprises and summer loving at award-winning wine estates awaits at long-time venues Blaauwklippen, Nederburg, Leopard’s Leap, Plaisir, Zevenwacht, Asara, Rhebokskloof and Morgenhof remain must-visit estates this season, alongside the new addition of Jordan Wine Estate.
This season, The Galileo also returns to popular favourites Glenelly Estate in Stellenbosch and Meerendal in the Durbanville Wine Valley, both well-loved venues that have hosted many memorable Galileo screenings. Spread throughout Stellenbosch, Paarl, Kuilsriver, and Franschhoek, guests are truly spoilt for choice and can visit premier estates in all major Winelands areas!

- Ticket prices start at R155 per person on Webtickets.
- Doors open at 6 PM on weekdays and 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, with the movie commencing after sunset.
Take advantage of the free Birthday Special and discounted rates with The Galileo Pensioner (Wednesdays) and Student Special (Thursdays) for only R99 (excluding Special Shows) as well as the Season Pass, which is 6 tickets for the price of 5.
