Following the success of last year’s event, Brett Bailey and Third World Bunfight will once again present The Routes of Sound at Spier Wine Farm from 26 to 28 September 2025. Music has always had its place at Spier and as a bite-sized sonic experience, The Routes of Sound highlights a compelling mix of exceptional and original performers.
This year’s line-up includes Jak Tomas, Giuliette Price, Luh’ra, Taleswapper, Ntokozo Zwane and Odwa Bongo. In addition to the diverse performances, guests will also be able to enjoy award-winning wines from Spier’s Creative Block collection as they meander between acoustic sets. The concept plays on the dual meaning of routes and roots: the journey toward the discovery and joy of sound in its rawest form – stripped down, unplugged and personal. For those drawn to storytelling through song, this promises an evocative, enriching night of lyrical exploration with some wonderful poetic voices in the line up. Groups of 30 will rotate along two paths that move through a selection of Spier’s most atmospheric spaces ranging from the historic Manor House and the Old Wine Cellar to the Cowshed and other cosy lounges and nooks. The experience will culminate in a concert with The Herbie Tsoaeli Quintet featuring Herbie on bass and vocals and Buddy Wells on sax. To ease into the experience, early dinner bookings at the recently opened Veld Restaurant or at Vada Smokehouse & Bakery are encouraged. Those wishing to stay over at the new Spier Hotel can enquire further through reservations@spier.co.za.
The Routes of Sound takes place at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September 2025 at 7:30pm, and on Sunday 28 September at 3pm. Comfortable footwear is recommended, and please note: no under-18s.
