Following a successful debut last year, and amidst a series of glowing audience reviews, KWV Cathedral Cellar in Paarl is proud to host another instalment of the internationally acclaimed Candlelight Concerts. These exceptional events return to KWV’s Cathedral Cellar in Paarl in 2026, once again transforming the historic space into an intimate live music venue illuminated by hundreds of candles.
Presented and produced by the global events company Fever, the Candlelight series is celebrated worldwide for transforming distinctive venues into immersive concert settings. In Paarl, at the heart of wine country, this collaboration reflects a natural alignment between music, culture and wine. This year, audiences can look forward to experiencing some of the Candlelight series’ most popular performances – including Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, music inspired by popular movie composer, Hans Zimmer, and classical renditions of Coldplay, Queen and ABBA.
Housed within KWV’s historic Cathedral Cellar – the namesake of the Cathedral Cellar wine range – the venue is deeply rooted in the craftsmanship and legacy of South African wine. Defined by its cathedral-like proportions, domed ceilings and monumental carved stukvats, the cellar stands as one of KWV’s most distinctive spaces. By opening this landmark venue to live classical music, KWV continues to extend the cultural life of the cellar beyond winemaking, creating a setting where heritage, artistry and contemporary experience converge.
Early audiences praised the experience as “sublime” and “truly special”, describing the candlelit cellar setting as “dreamlike” and noting the rare synergy between venue and performance. Feedback consistently highlighted the Cathedral Cellar as an exceptional space for live classical music, where acoustics, atmosphere and scale work in harmony.
