Written and performed by Alan Committie.
Directed by Christopher Weare.
Designed by Kieran Mcgregor.
At Theatre on the Bay from 17 December 2026 to 6 February, 2027.
Funnyman and 2023 Comedy Hall of fame inductee, Alan Committie returns to his favourite theatre in all the land – Theatre On The Bay – to bring you his 29th brand-new stand up show.
500 Laughs does what it says on the tin – a night that will guarantee 500 laughs.
With the current inflation and slow GDP growth it is no longer acceptable to do a show that is simply a laugh a minute.
This show demands a LAUGH EVERY 12 seconds!
That equates to 5 laughs a minute for a 100-minute show. DO THE MATHS. It’s a night of 500 laughs.
Committie will chat about the year that was 2026, why the Odyssey is trouble for husbands and boyfriends, the potholed filled elections, Dolly Parton’s island stream, modern kitchen appliances, and loads more!
And according to three pertinent bylaws as stated in our South African Constitution, Committie will be obligated to bring in his flip chart and pens and do silly things with them. Dem’s da rules!
This night of hilarity will be helmed by Christopher Weare, and the set and lighting design by Kieran Mcgregor.
There is talk of a 34-piece orchestra and dancing girls, but this is only talk at the moment.
At the interval there will be a raffle for a much sought after prize: a half-tank of 95 unleaded petrol.
DO NOT MISS OUT!
