This breath-taking setting provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of beautiful and inspiring music, featuring original cello compositions from Carol Thorns’ award-nominated album Sanctuary, recorded at the very same venue and honoured with a South African Music Award (SAMA) nomination for Best Instrumental Album (2023).
A sought-after performer both locally and abroad, Carol has graced prestigious stages across South Africa, Europe, and the UAE. Through her company, Red Cello Productions, she has created a portfolio of spectacular original acts including The Bubble, Rosanthorn Trio, CODA Africa, and The Galaxy Dress.
Carol will be joined by her fellow musicians from the popular Afro-fusion band CODA Africa — Sethu G (vocals) and Renate Riedemann (violin) — for a richly varied programme that moves from soulful string duos to inspired arrangements of much-loved South African songs.
Carol says: “Performing at The Sanctuary is deeply meaningful to me. It’s not only a breath-taking location, but also the place where I’ve created some of my most inspired work. I’ve recorded an album here and filmed two music videos, and the acoustics are absolute perfection. This concert marks a milestone in my musical journey over the past five years, shared with my talented CODA Africa bandmates — a celebration of friendship, creativity, and the mountains that surround us.
