Silversea Cruises Luxury Expedition Ship, Silver Cloud in Cape Town

Silversea Cruises

For the first time since the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Silversea Cruises hosted a ship visit for invited guests during the Silver Cloud’s call at Cape Town in March. Returning from her successful Antarctic Season, Silver Cloud visited Cape Town for two days.

Although Silversea resumed passenger voyages in 2021, until now protocols prevented invited guests to tour ships as visitors. This global embargo was lifted in time for Silver Cloud’s call at Cape Town and local General Sales Agents for Silversea Cruises, Cruise Vacations, hosted their guests for a tour of the ship followed by a sumptuous lunch on board this ultra-luxurious expedition ship.

Cruise Vacations Managing Director, Gaynor Galbraith Neill, gave a short talk in the Explorer Lounge giving a quick insight into expedition cruising and the stunning destinations that can be explored on all seven continents. A tour of the ship gave an interactive look into life on board, the stunning restaurants, lounges and lavish guest suites.

Silver Cloud is one of Silversea Cruises fleet of five expedition ships, weighing in at only 17 400 gross tonnes she carries a maximum of 254 guests served by a crew of 212. With all suite accommodation guests enjoy luxurious amenities in suites that range in size from 22 sqm to 95sqm. Amenities on board include 4 dining options, a sparkling swimming pool with hot tubs, a gym, library and spa, spacious panoramic lounges as well as a state of the art photographic studio. On departure from Cape Town Silver Cloud started her route north for the summer season in a series of voyages that will see her travel via the Indian Ocean Islands, Middle East through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean and Europe before arriving in the Arctic for the season there.

Accompanied in this region by Guest Speaker, Zelda Le Grange, President Mandela’s Private Secretary of 19 years, guests have been enjoying insight into our colourful past as well as embracing our incredible culture and culinary delights along the route which included an “Ubuntu on the Beach” evening in Gqeberha.
