Lead by the idea of “The Bush” in South Africa, the Safari Collection features two captivating designs – the Bold Zebra and Graceful Giraffe. Each design is meticulously woven on Jacquard looms, ensuring unparalleled detail and sophistication.
A Jacquard loom is a type of weaving loom that uses a specialised mechanism to control individual threads in a fabric, allowing for complex patterns and designs to be woven. It was invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard in France in 1804 and revolutionised textile production by using punched cards to control the raising and lowering of warp threads. This innovation enabled the creation of intricate patterns and textures that were previously difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional looms. This captivating method forms the foundation of African Jacquard’s work, blending the meticulous techniques of French weaving with distinct African narratives.
The Safari Collection is woven according to a selection of earthy colours that pay homage to the region’s unique environment.
