LA PETITE FERME REFRESHES THE BABOON ROCK RANGE WITH A CONTEMPORARY TOUCH
La Petite Ferme is excited to announce the rebranding of the beloved Baboon Rock wine range. Every brand has its seasons and moments to reassess its market appeal. Over the past few months, they have embarked on this journey with Baboon Rock, their playful and creative label. Their goal is to blend curiosity with a touch of modern sophistication, while maintaining the heritage that La Petite Ferme is known for.
NEW LOOK, SAME INCREDIBLE TASTE PROFILE
Their Baboon Rock wines have always been a testament to innovation and resilience. Originating from a challenging harvest in 2012, when a troop of baboons plundered our Chardonnay grapes, the label came about when adversity was turned into opportunity. By sourcing cool-climate, lime-soil grapes from Robertson, a fresh, unwooded Chardonnay that embodied the playful spirit of the baboons, was created. They recently added the Baboon Rock Grenache Noir, a light, fruity red that perfectly complements the Chardonnay. Together, they form a modern pair that delights the palate.
The new Baboon Rock label features an exquisitely detailed Chacma baboon, meticulously hand drawn. Set against a subtle fynbos backdrop in a halo format, the label positions this majestic creature in its natural environment, highlighting the importance of conservation. To La Petite Ferme, terroir is also about sharing territory.
LA PETITE FERME JOINS FORCES WITH BABOON MATTERS
In an exciting new venture, La Petite Ferme has partnered with Baboon Matters to support the conservation of Chacma baboons.
The captivating Chacma baboons lived on the wild slopes of the mountain long before people settled in this glorious valley. At La Petite Ferme, they recognise the importance of coexisting harmoniously with these wild animals. They are proud to partner with Baboon Matters, a leading conservation organization, and will donate a percentage of each bottle of Baboon Rock wines sold to support their efforts. Jenni Trethowan of Baboon Matters says, “Baboon Matters aims to ensure the holistic and long-term environmental protection of baboons in South Africa and to provide effective, non-aggressive alternatives to managing human-baboon conflict.”
As custodians of their land, they are honoured to share their space with these wild creatures. Visitors to La Petite Ferme may spot the cheeky baboons that occasionally visit our vineyards, selectively harvesting the ripest grapes. While their antics can be exasperating, the grapes that survive their harvest result in wines of unparalleled character.
