Honey & Dora – A Vibrant Café, Lifestyle Spot, and Bar in Cape Town

Honey & Dora

Honey & Dora are excited to be open – offering a unique and inclusive experience to the LGBTQI+ community and beyond. The name “Honey & Dora” pays homage to the Gayle Dictionary; The Language of Kinks & Queens – in which, food is referred to as “Honey” and “Dora” refers to drinks. The location and space offer the perfect place to gather with friends and enjoy a memorable dining experience.

The Space

Step inside Honey & Dora and be captivated by the enchanting décor – blending elements from a silk flower business and inherited sewing machines with modern touches. Adorning the walls, a three-generation display of sewing machines honours the legacy of JP’s mother, Sonja, as well as his grandmother and great grandmother. As a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, founder JP created Honey & Dora, and this sentiment is beautifully reflected in the vibrant Jungle Bar, that comes alive with a burst of natural green colors. Notably, the bar is also adorned with vibrant silk flowers sourced from Sonja’s flower business.

Honey & Dora additionally offers a private and intimate space, known as the SLAY Room. This private section comfortably accommodates up to 18 people – perfect for private events and celebrations. Furthermore, the entire venue can be booked for various occasions, such as private functions, year-end parties, birthday celebrations, and more.

Culinary Indulgence

Indulge in a culinary journey at Honey & Dora, where JP has meticulously curated a menu that offers a delightful range of Honey & Dora home-cooked dishes with a unique twist. From wholesome options to decadent delights, the menu caters to every palate. Whether you join for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the international culinary influences in the menu offer a diverse dining experience. The menu dotes on exclusive items – hand-made patties are prepared fresh to order, and the irresistible dessert selection features freshly baked cakes, tarts, and an already selected guest favourite – Frozen Chocolate & Nut-covered Bananas with a Peanut Butter Mousse. Complementing the culinary offerings, the drink and cocktail selection is designed to bring laughter and a touch of blush, ensuring an enjoyable visit. Moreover, the menu includes educational snippets, showcasing extracts from the Gayle Dictionary to expand your vocabulary.
