Brookdale Estate Introduces Small Plates Menu in the Tasting Room

Brookdale Estate has introduced a new menu of Small Plates to be enjoyed in the Tasting Room and Terrace to complement wine tasting of its Brookdale and Mason Road ranges. Chef Gary Coetzee says that in anticipation of the increased number of day visitors during the summer holiday season, the new offering is set to meet the need of those wanting a quick, light and delicious snack, served anytime during the day (11:00 to 17:00). Small Plates are priced at an affordable R65 to R90 each.

The compact Small Plates menu offers something for everyone, taking its inspiration from the fresh and wholesome cuisine served at the Brookdale Bistro adjacent to the Tasting Room. The Bistro is open daily for lunch bookings, as well as dinner Thursday to Saturday. From 4 December it will also be open for dinner on Wednesdays. (Closed on Mondays)

Tasting Room Small Plates include Duck liver pâté served with crispy chicken skin, raisin purée, grape compote & port gel; a vegetarian option of Miso aubergine, gingered carrot and cashew purée with sorghum salad, homemade Kimchi and sweet potato crisp; and Chef Gary’s popular Bobotie Tortellini served with raisin and tamarind jus, tomato sambal and toasted almond.

The Prawn & Fish Croquettes Small Plate comes with compressed cucumber, avocado and Gochujang aioli – which may be perfectly paired with a taste, or even better, a chilled glass of the award-winning Brookdale Chenin Blanc.

Book a Brookdale Tasting Experience of four Mason Road wines at R80 per person (Chenin Blanc; Serendipity Rosé; Syrah; GSM Red blend); or taste any of Brookdale’s premium wines individually at R50 per wine (Brookdale Chenin Blanc 2022; Brookdale Bradbourne 2023; Brookdale Sixteen 2023).

Also on offer in the Tasting Room is a Mason Road Sip & Dip Pairing of the four wines, served with freshly baked bread and four different dips (Hummus; Olive Tapenade; Mushroom & Sunflower Seed Pâté; Baba Ghanoush) at R160 per person.
