William Kentridge commemorates the millions of Africans who fought in and lost their lives in the First World War, in The Head & the Load at Joburg Theatre.
Friday Apr 21 – Saturday May 6.
As is his trademark style of theatre-making, the world-renowned artist uses music, dance, projections, mechanised sculptures and shadow to tell the largely unknown story of the role that Africa played in World War I.
The performance is a co-production with the Centre d’Art Battat, Montreal and with music composed by Philip Miller with Thuthuka Sibisi).
