Get ready to stir up some good at the most delicious charity event in town! On Sunday 28th July, George Hay Park will be brimming with the irresistible aromas of over 40 different potjies, all simmering to perfection for a fantastic cause.
For just R100 a plate, you can indulge in a taste of heaven while making a real difference in the lives of others. All proceeds go to charity so you can feel good about every delicious bite!
But that’s not all! This family-friendly event promises a day of fun for everyone, with:
- A smorgasbord of potjie flavours: Lamb, chicken, beef, vegan, vegetarian, and more!
- A panel of celebrity judges: Including Masterchef SA finalist Refilwe Tselanyane and the legendary “Mussels from Brussels” Philippe Frydman!
- A vibrant atmosphere: With a kiddies play area, a beer tent, and good vibes all around!
The pots will be simmering and the wonderful aromas will be filling the George Hay Park on Sunday 28th of July 2024 as the much-anticipated Parkview Potjiekos Competition is back! Come along with the family and enjoy a delicious plate of potjie for R100.
Feeling hungry? The contestants will have their pots ready for the judges to decide on the winning pot by 12 noon. There will be 40 different pots offering lamb, chicken, beef, vegan, vegetarian and a whole lot more. And all the proceeds go to Nicarela Charity.
And of course, every good competition needs equally fantastic judges! We’re thrilled to announce a panel of culinary connoisseurs who know their way around a potjie pot:
- Caro Berry: The creative culinary queen behind “Caro in the Kitchen,” renowned for her exceptional skills and event management.
- Refilwe Tselanyane: Masterchef SA finalist and owner of RT Good Eats, bringing her extensive culinary experience as a chef, judge, and cake artist.
- Chef Nicolas Panayiotou: The mastermind behind Parkview Village’s newest foodie haven, Mish Mash Tapas Bar and Bistro.
- Philippe Frydman: Executive chef, author, and humanitarian, known for his award-winning food and dedication to fighting hunger. You might know him as the “Mussels from Brussels!”
- Sally Barnes & Nobuhle Mthethwa: Parktown High School for Girls’ resident food enthusiasts and veteran judges of the Parkview Potjie competition.
With this incredible lineup of judges, you can be sure the competition will be fierce, the flavours phenomenal, and the atmosphere electric! The Potjiekos competition is all about community, giving back, enjoying family fun, and basking under the July sun. Come fill your tummy while making a difference in others lives.
