South Africa’s vegan community is constantly growing and is at an “all-time high” ranking us in the top 30 in the world, with Stellenbosch, Johannesburg, and Cape Town all ranked in the top ten South African cities. So, it was a no-brainer that the Radisson RED V&A Waterfront Cape Town will once again host their now renowned guilt-free, ‘Yes Ve-Gan’ Christmas Day 3-course menu.
This experience takes people on a journey of culinary delights, festively themed, and served with a lekker, local twist. The lunch takes place on 25th December 2022 at 12h00.
Chef Andre Hill, the Executive Chef at RED, has designed the menu to hero locally sourced ingredients. The menu promises to be an unbelievable experience, with a playful take on the conventional.
Last week (Thursday) we hosted local journalists and influencers to taste test the new yummy menu.
Chef Hill says, “My thinking behind the new menu was to first find balance and make sure each ingredient was elevated and let each dish speak for themselves. Most importantly, looking at seasonality and making sure it tied into the Christmas look and feel.”
The Ve-Gan menu features a selection of tinsel treats, a caprice salad, green pea cappuccino, thyme, mint, and oats foam. Then our jingle bells will be filled with flavours of;
+ Creamy coconut & cauliflower curry, pickled tomato
+ Pumpkin crown steaks, walnut pesto & white miso caramel
+ Earth pulse-barley risotto, roasted red pepper & chickpea
+ Charred broccoli spears, sultana purée, crisp brussels
+ Sweet sticky tofu, wild garlic oil, shaved white radish
To end, we will be decking the halls with cherry and apple crumble topped with coffee drizzle.
