Time Out Market Cape Town – a food and cultural market that brings the best of the city together under one roof – will soon be host to the fourth edition of the globally revered ‘Chefs on Tour’ which brings together chefs from two different Time Out Markets around the world for a collaborative one-off dining experience, next month on May 8th. Chefs on Tour – Time Out Market’s distinctive chef’s table dinner series that celebrates the exceptional talent and unique creativity of chefs from different Markets across the globe – is all about curating a unique fine dining experience that is fun, exciting, and delicious, curated by two outstanding chefs from different Time Out Markets.

The fourth edition, taking place in Cape Town, welcomes Chef Paul Toussaint from Time Out Market Montreal in Canada, collaborating with Chef John van Zyl of The Melting Pot in Time Out Market Cape Town, on an exclusive nine-course menu. Merging the unique flavours and cultural influences from two notable chefs on opposite sides of the world, this one-off pairing is a true reflection of Time Out Market’s commitment to elevating dishes unique to each region onto a global stage, celebrating and connecting Time Out Market’s extraordinary community of culinary talents.

Time Out Market Montreal opened in November 2019, and Chef Paul Toussaint, who has been with the Market since the beginning, is known as one of Montreal’s most prestigious chefs. For this instalment of Chefs on Tour, Chef Paul will be coming to Time Out Market Cape Town to showcase his Caribbean-influenced Restaurant Paul Toussaint from Time Out Market Montreal.

Chef Paul’s passionate approach to Caribbean food has been catching Montreal’s attention ever since he returned to the city from Haiti in 2017, and he will be joined by Time Out Market Cape Town’s very own Chef John van Zyl of The Melting Pot.

“Over the past few weeks, Chef John van Zyl and Chef Paul Touissant have worked together to create an  extra special nine-course menu, fusing their extraordinary talents, creativity and signature dishes, seamlessly linking Cape Town, Montreal and the Caribbean for this incredible Chefs on Tour collaboration. Chef John van Zyl, owner of The Melting Pot, is known for his concise menu of globally-inspired small plates and bountiful, fresh seafood straight from the Cape. This collaboration shines a spotlight on his South African heritage, inviting guests on a culinary exploration that captures the diverse flavours and ingredients derived from his Cape Town roots.

Members of the public can join in on the fun for one night only as Time Out Market Cape Town will host an intimate evening with both chefs on May 8th. Tickets are on sale now and spaces are extremely limited.

There are currently seven Time Out Markets globally with more in the pipeline including Time Out Market Porto set to open in May 2024, and the just announced Time Out Market Budapest – set to open in 2025.
