Melville Koppies – A Place of Inspiration

Melville Koppies

Melville Koppies attracts varied groups who want to explore different aspects of this green space and get inspiration. Greenside Design Centre brought its students to give them ideas for two projects: to design a hypothetical exhibition centre for the Koppies and to design and make an article that incorporates different cultures. Two post doc law students from the US wanted to find out more about the Koppies’ history and how Joburg’s early inhabitants lived and interacted as a group. This will feed into their research. For another woman, the indigenous flora provides her with a picture of how to rehabilitate the neglected indigenous parts of the James and Ethel Gray Park.
