Why Earth Hour Matters?

Since its inception in 2007, Earth Hour has united millions across the globe in a moment of solidarity for the planet. Last year, WWF South Africa ranked among the top 10 countries worldwide for participation and engagement. Building on this momentum, we aim to make Earth Hour 2025 even bigger and more impactful!

Pedzi Gozo, Executive Manager of Strategic Communications at WWF South Africa, says:

“Earth Hour is more than just switching off the lights – it’s about taking action for our planet in fun and meaningful ways. By joining us for the Outdoor Cinema event or engaging in an activity of your choice, you’re making a real impact. Let’s make Earth Hour 2025 The Biggest Hour for Earth together!”

How You Can Take Part?

For those who prefer to mark Earth Hour in their own way, they encourage individuals and companies to plan their own planet-friendly activities. Whether it’s hiking in nature, cooking a sustainable meal, participating in a clean-up, or hosting a nature-themed movie night—everyone, everywhere can join in by spending 60 minutes doing something positive for our planet.
