Mark your calendars for the annual #CapClassiqueDay on September 1st, a global celebration initiated by the Cap Classique Producers’ Association (CCPA) in 2019. This special day pays homage to the exquisite Cap Classique, a sparkling South African wine crafted with precision and passion.
#CapClassiqueDay aims to unite enthusiasts worldwide in a shared appreciation for this remarkable product. Leading up to the event, social media will buzz with exciting activations and engaging competitions run by members of the CCPA, inviting all aficionados to participate and showcase their love for Cap Classique.
Originating from South Africa, Cap Classique stands out for its unique production process. Each bottle undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, allowing bubbles to naturally form. This phase as well as the length of time that the wine spends in contact with the lees (a minimum of 12 months), before its removal, introduce complexity, finesse and elegance to aroma and flavour. Simonsig pioneered the first Cap Classique in 1971, marking a milestone in sparkling wine history.
In 2022, the CCPA celebrated 50 years of Cap Classique with a series of captivating events, both locally and internationally.
Updates leading to #CapClassiqueDay will culminate in a day dedicated to savouring these effervescent wines on September 1st. Join the conversation and spread the joy by using #CapClassiqueDay and tagging the CCPA on Facebook @Cap Classique Association, and @capclassique_sa on Instagram.
